This is why we haven’t bothered with a tree for a few years now.
more animals
This year, since we are moving in a few days, decorating wasn’t an option anyway.
I do miss having a tree. I even miss watching the cat systematically remove the decorations. Maybe I will give it a shot again next Christmas.

I took this photo a few weeks ago, but haven’t come up with a witty caption.

Alternate title, “Hey, Honey, there’s a deer(e) in the back yard.”
We also have a pile of big rocks.
It isn’t the greatest view to wake up to in the morning. When the riprap project is finished, though, it will look great.
And the nutrias (a critter only it’s own mother could love) will have to be [...]

Jungle took some photos of the grounds surrounding my brother’s house. He is a professional landscaper and his property shows it.

I have a soft spot for critters – especially young orphans. (Jungle calls me Elly Mae from time to time.)
I get so excited every year when the mommy ducks stop by to show off their new babies. Okay, they really just know I will feed them, but still. It’s one of the [...]

Previous owners planted quite a few bulbs with reckless abandon. I’ve moved most of them to more appropriate locations. Yellow daffodils bloomed a month ago. This variety is blooming now.
Most of the herbs are planted around the front porch. I’ve never had parsley survive the winter before – or grow so [...]
